AMARAVATI | April 28, 2026 — In a historic move that signals Andhra Pradesh’s arrival as a global tech powerhouse, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu today laid the foundation stone for Google’s massive Artificial Intelligence (AI) Data Centre. The event, held this evening, saw the presence of Union IT & Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, IT Minister Nara Lokesh, and several global tech leaders.

The project, which represents a staggering $15 billion (approx. ₹1.35 lakh crore) investment by Google, is set to be one of the largest AI-driven facilities outside the United States. Spanning 600 acres, the 1-Gigawatt capacity hub is expected to transform the region into a “Global AI Gateway.”

“From Silicon Valley to Quantum Valley”

Addressing the gathering, CM Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that April 28, 2026, would be remembered as a red-letter day in the state’s history.

“While the world searches on Google, Google has searched for and selected Andhra Pradesh,” Naidu remarked. “This is not just a building; it is the foundation for our digital future. Very soon, every citizen in AP will have access to an AI doctor and an AI personal assistant.”

The Chief Minister also revealed that starting tomorrow, he would be utilizing a specialized AI Assistant to streamline governance and decision-making, setting a precedent for digital administration in India

Connectivity Revolution: Bullet Trains on the Horizon

Adding to the evening’s excitement, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a major infrastructure boost for the state. He outlined a vision for a Southern High-Speed Rail Network that will connect Amaravati to other major hubs in record time:

  • Amaravati to Hyderabad: 70 minutes
  • Amaravati to Chennai: 112 minutes

Vaishnaw noted that 74 railway stations across the state are currently being modernized to support this new era of high-speed growth.

Economic Impact & Job Creation

IT Minister Nara Lokesh, who was instrumental in securing the investment, highlighted the employment potential of the project. The Google facility is expected to create thousands of high-tech jobs in:

  • Artificial Intelligence & Data Science
  • Cloud Architecture & Cybersecurity
  • Advanced Server Manufacturing

A Milestone for Amaravati

The launch comes just weeks after the Indian Parliament officially recognized Amaravati as the sole capital of Andhra Pradesh. The government’s “Speed of Doing Business” policy was cited as the primary reason for Google’s decision, alongside a landmark agreement allowing the tech giant to procure its own green energy for the facility.

As the sun set over the ceremony, the message was clear: with the combined power of Google’s AI and the state’s infrastructure push, Andhra Pradesh is no longer just competing with Indian states—it is competing with the world.
